Book review: The Force Unleashed

Lets get right to it.
This title (The Force Unleashed by Sean Williams) is branded: “A gripping action-adventure novel set during Revenge of the Sith (III) and A New Hope (IV).

As an avid Star Wars fan, you already know Order 66 has been put in effect, thus whiping out the majority of the Jedi. All under the watchfull eye of Palpatine.
In secrecy, Vader has selected his own apprentice and is training him to help him challenge the Emperor.

The main character of the book is that secret apprentice called “Starkiller”. I’m not going to write about the plot. That would ruin it for anyone wanting to read it in the future.

What we should know? The book is based on the new videogame (PS3, Wii, XBox) from Lucasarts. And honesty demands me to say this upfront, it shows. It’s action scene after action scene. The apprentice goes from location to location (just like the videogame) and the pace is relentless.
The good thing is, it’s well written. It sheds light on that mysterious periode in the Star Wars timeline, the time between RotS (III) and ANH (IV).

For instance, you’ll find out about the birth of the Rebel Alliance, which is pretty cool no?

Did I enjoy the book?
Yes I did. It’s not a Karen Traviss novel, and it isn’t a Timothy Zahn story. It won’t become an epic classic in Star Wars literature, but it’s an entertaining read that will have you hooked until the end.

  • Stefson in a nutshell (long)

Stefson.com has grown out of my previous site www.mmopiglet.com (which no longer exists), that was mainly about my time in mmo games. Ever since I stopped playing mmo’s, due to personal reasons (read: time), I missed blogging so much, that the decision to start over from scratch on a new domain was easily made. So here we are.

I blog mostly about web2.0, technology, book reviews, Wordpress themes and plugins, tools for web savvys, usability, websites, gaming.
