Semi-coherent ramblings of an internet junkie about business, life & gaming.

Online billing ap

I’m searching for an online webbased billing/invoice/customer management application. Apparantly, that is hard to find. So far I’ve come across Simplybill and Sidejobtrack. The last one is a free service, so I’m trying it out at the moment. First impressions are a bit mixed. It looks great, but a bit clumsy to find out how it works.
Anyone that knows other services like these?

YouTube and milestones

It’s late, and I’m browsing YouTube (again) for some more guitar videos.
But that’s not what this is. Who of you played Marios Bros like crazy in his/her young days? I know I did.
And what about MacGyver? Who knows him?
Beverly Hills 90210 anyone? When this movie starts, you’ll be thinking, what in god’s name…? But watch it through, trust me.

Blogging and web2

The internet and web2. Some people call it a hype, others live for it.
To me, it’s nothing more than a way of naming the current trends in webtechnology. The user/visitor is given a more central role, has a lot more input and advantages to the website (take for example digg.com and myspace.com).

At this very moment, millions and millions of euros (dollars) are being pumped into ‘revolutionary?’ web2 start-ups. If you want to have some insight, check out sites like techcrunch.com and killerstartups.com.
Everyone wants a piece of the pie, and everyone is an entrepeneur.
Now, the fun part. 99% of the time, these entrepeneurs have blogs to. We can devide these entepeneurs into two classes. You have the ones that have proven themselves succesfull (read: made millions of $$), and on the other side, you have the ones thinking they are going to make lots of $$.

I want to talk about the first category. Yea, you know who they are. The elitists.
The ones that get invited to conference after conference. Telling everybody how great this new web experience is and how we all should embrase it. Always busy busy dealing with a new start-up. Shareholder here, board member there. The money is everywhere!
Don’t get me wrong, I’m not calling everyone a big meanyhead. Sure, I have respect for lots of people. People who have indeed set a milestone on the map. But come on, wake up and smell the coffee man.

I think we can describe the whole web2 thing with one image. Needs no more.

Show me the money

YouTube in the morning

An Xbox commercial. Excellent made. Don’t know why it would be banned?
Clinton and a voodoo doll, a Dutch commercial. Another Dutch insurance commerial, just jump dude.
Insane guitar solo by a korean dude, among the most viewed videos on YouTube and to finish it of, a Brasilian dude ravaging his guitar.

On occasion I try and do some special stuff. For instance I do usability tests on websites. Or you can take a look at some of the famous interviews I've done.

  • Stefson in a nutshell (long)

Stefson.com has grown out of my previous site www.mmopiglet.com (which no longer exists), that was mainly about my time in mmo games. Ever since I stopped playing mmo’s, due to personal reasons (read: time), I missed blogging so much, that the decision to start over from scratch on a new domain was easily made. So here we are.

I blog mostly about web2.0, technology, book reviews, Wordpress themes and plugins, tools for web savvys, usability, websites, gaming.
