Reduced Shakespeare Company and the Night of the locals
It’s been a busy week.
My girlfriend and I went to see The Reduced Shakespeare Company at “De Muze” in Heusden-Zolder. One word: “Totally awesome dude!”. Okay, that’s more than one word but hey …
If you have the chance, go and see them, it’s so worth it!
The first picture is inside the theatre waiting for the show to start. The second is me with the reduced lads.
The following is kinda funny.
I stopped playing World of Warcraft a long time ago, but I do miss gaming from time to time. So sometimes I play this singleplayer game called ‘Titan Quest’. My girlfriend apparantly got really into it, and lo and behold, I now have a fellow gamer/girlfriend.
She enjoys playing a female dr00d character that hangs out with wolfs.
And to finish the post, a couple of pictures from an event in Heusden Zolder called ‘Night of the Locals’. Lots a beer, loud music and more beer.
I’m feeling the dip
My girlfriend bought me this new book from Seth Godin. It’s titled “The Dip”.
Lately, I’ve been so busy with my new project (website) that I’m more and more starting to wonder, is it ever going to pay off? So she came across this title and thought it would be perfect for me.
I have to say, it reades like a charm. It’s a very small book, but it contains a lot of wisdom. Wisdom like only Seth Godin can tell you.
Do you remember starting something new that interested you? Chances are the world seemed a little brighter, a little more inviting, it is new and exciting and you feel you can take on the world.
Now, remember how that same activity seemed after six months had passed. It’s likely you weren’t having as much fun; progress was hard to accomplish; and frustration was starting to build. That’s what a dip feels like.
It’s all commonsense, but like all things like this, sometimes you just need a stranger to shed a little light on thigs, and say it how it is.
On a more personal note, some pictures taken with my mobile phone.
Broken records with my Wii. It’s good to be the king :)
Then real life bowling. Actually it was disco-bowling, see the pretty lights?
And last, my girl and I came across this store that was selling everything with a 70% discount. People inside were basically killing eachother and looting the entire store. I mean look at it, that was how the entire store looked like!
Standup comedy and more of that
Yesterday, me and my girlfriend went to a stand-up comedy show from Alex Agnew. In one word: AWESOME.
This guy totally rocks. Check out some YouTube clips from his shows.
A couple a weeks ago I posted about the idea of buying a Mac Notebook.
However, after visiting the local MediaMarkt several times and dr00ling over the iMac 24″ for hours, I’m reconsidering the notebook idea. Just look at the size of that puppy!
I definately want a piece of that.
With the release of Mac OS 10.5, also know as Leopard, I’ve decided to wait until the Apple store in my neighborhood upgrades or stocks their iMacs with the latest operating system. I’m now in the process of looking for replacement software, backing up all my files and music, you know … the usual stuff.
My dad asked me to redesign the website of his chess-club. The person that currently administrates the site is no longer up to it, so he asked me if I could help out.
The screenshot on the left is what it looks like at the moment. I think I’m going to set up a Wordpress installation for him, so he can update the site whenever he feels like it.
Also, because of the Google PR update, I’ve been accepted into the ReviewMe marketplace. Thank you Google!

Macbook Pro VS Asus G2S
For the last couple of weeks, I’ve been thinking of replacing my desktop with a powerfull notebook (laptop).
So I started my search for that very purpose. Now I want a notebook with some serious power, it has to be able to crunch numbers…
And the very fact I’m sick of always keeping an eye out for spyware and virusses, I’m very mental about that.
So I had this crazy idea of buying a Mac. Scary isn’t it? I never had a Mac before… But you hear so many good things from them.
I’ve come up with these two:
- Apple 17″ macbook pro (2699 €)
(17 inch, core 2 duo T7500 2.2 ghz, 2 GB RAM, 200 GB HD, GeForce GO 8600 M GT 256 mb)
+ it’s a mac
+ it’s has a designy kinda look
+ it has an option for a HD screen
- expensive
- never had a Mac before - Asus G2S-7R024C (2033 €)
(17 inch, core 2 duo T7500 2.2 ghz, 2 GB RAM, 200 GB HD, GeForce GO 8600 M GT 256 mb)
+ cheaper
+ I know my way around a Windows system
+ Asus = reliable
- Windows Vista on it (brrr)
- Windows on it …
- same old, spyware and trojans and …
I’ve stopped by the local Apple store today, and the salesperson answered a lot of my questions.
One of them was regarding the availibility of freeware programs for the Mac, like FTP clients, texteditors, … stuff like that. The dude showed me versiontracker, a CNet site featuring downloads for the Mac. Cool!
Leopard, MAC OS X (10.5) is due to be released sometime this month, so I figure I’m going to wait until it’s available on the market. If, and I say if, I’m going to purchase a Macbook Pro, Leopard should be on it.
Another big downer is the fact that I need to purchase software like Illustrator of Fireworks for the Mac, and that can be pretty expensive.
Sure, the Asus machine has basically the same configuration, and it a bit cheaper. But it has Vista on it, and I’m not sure that’s a good thing. I’ve been using Windows machines for like forever, and it’s definately not that I hate Windows or Microsoft or anything.
Though decision, more on this in the next few weeks.
