The last couple of weeks I’m seeing a steady increase of traffic to my site, which is great offcourse. That’s what we bloggers all want, to be heared.
For anyone interested in how to increase your traffic, I’ll share my personal experience.
1. Accept the fact that getting traffic is a slow and painfull proces!
‘But but I see all these big famous sites that get loads of visitors and make tons of money!’. Yep, that’s them, but we’re talking about you remember? You have to realise, the internet is like a huge pool of water with fish in it and sometimes, just sometimes, you see this beautifull fish. But most of the time, you see the same old boring ugly everyday fish swim by. The same goes for the internet. For every ‘beautifull’ site out there that gets lots of traffic and makes gazillions, there are thousands of regular sites that no one knows or cares about.
2. Accept the fact that you have to play some funky tunes!
‘But but why are you talking about music now?’. No man, I’m talking about content, the most important part of a website. You think that creating a site and putting Google Adsense on it will make you a millionare? Well, according to all these people on the net it will, but I’m sorry I have to be the one to tell you this, they’re lying.
The internet is flooded with sites, and adding yours to it is like farting up in space. No one knows about it and no one cares, except you (cause you’re wearing a spacesuit, ieeww)!
3. Accept the fact that I just made an extraordinary transition to this point.
Networking! What’s the best way to be heared? That’s right, open your mouth. So what do you do on the net, you let other people know you have something interesting to say. And you do that by networking. Be friendly, get to know other bloggers and webmasters, form relationships, get into communities. Because that’s what other people do as well.
These are three of the golden rules I have come to accept myself.
‘But but that’s going to take forever!’ Ehm yes, remember my first point? I know, it’s not what you want to hear, and yes I know, they told you making money on the net has never been easier.
Just keep this in mind and you’ll be fine!
