Like I said in a previous post, I’m trying to get as many backlinks as possible. Offcourse not just any links, but links from sites that are related to mine. People who blog about technology, the web, books, wordpress, movies, advertising…
So one of the things that come to mind is human networking. What is that you ask?
Easy, a social network according to Wikipedia, is a social structure made of individuals (or organisations) that are tied to eachother by one or more specific types of relations. Therefore, a human network could be described as: “Everything you want to achieve, can only be done through and with other people“.
So you see, your relationship with other people matters, alot! Lets extend this to blogging and link-exchanging. There are so many other website/blogs and webmasters/bloggers out there, how are you going to ‘network’?
Ever heared of a memory hook?
A memory hook is something that seperates you from all the other people out there. It is something that is immediately noticed. It actes as a label so your mind recalls bits of information that are associated with the person in question (you!).
You can make the memory hook anything you want. A tagline, an intro, a picture, a podcast,… something unique, to make people remember you.
The cool part is, in everyday life, you network all the time, probably without realising it.
So in closing, make sure you have a memory hook, and don’t forget a personal profile. This helps other people relate to you, so make it appealing and definately make it who you are. Sure your main objective is to get links, but don’t loose sight of the fact that people have to relate to you on some level.
And remember, if you already are a member of a network, the more impact you have on it, the more impact it has on you (or your site). The more you interact with it, chances are other users will ‘network’ towards you as well.
Time for me to do some networking.
