After reading this blogpost on fortuitous about ads I started thinking about implementing advertising on the project.
I myself am a user that has a very high ad blindness factor. I probably ignore about all ads I see on websites and have firefox extentions installed for blocking purposes.
How come so many people (like myself) react this way when it comes to ads on websites?
Banners, for example, that are well used can create an extra value to the site, it’s content and it’s users.
Well, the reality is quite different and the answer to my previous question is simple. So many ads on websites today are annoying, pushy, dangerous (malware) and prolly a lot more I haven’t listed.
So can you blame us users for reacting this way towards ads? Offcourse not.
But still, millions and millions of dollars/euros are being spent on online advertising. So apparantly there is an audience that exists. An audience I ignored, mainly because of my personal experiences and opinions about online advertising. Time to educate myself on this matter.
