Semi-coherent ramblings of an internet junkie about business, life & gaming.

Made for adsense websites

A little explanation first.

Some scraper sites are created for monetizing the site using advertising programs such as Google AdSense. In such case, they are called Made for AdSense sites or MFA. This is also a derogatory term used to refer to websites that have no redeeming value except to get web visitors to the website for the sole purpose of clicking on advertisements.

Made for AdSense sites are considered sites that are spamming search engines and diluting the search results by providing surfers with less-than-satisfactory search results. The scraped content is considered redundant to that which would be shown by the search engine under normal circumstances had no MFA website been found in the listings.

Why this topic?
For a while now, there is a MFA website that is bothering me.
Why? One, because it is in the same niche as one of my websites. And two, because I dislike cheaters. To make matters even worse, the particular MFA site ranks on the nr. 1 spot for several keywords.

It’s not easy to create websites that work. It takes hard work to build up, and maintain a website worthy of webtraffic. To see people abuse this and make a profit from it makes one wonder. Why should you bother to try and do it the honest way? It sure as hell isn’t that difficult to create a MFA website. Lets all start and spam the world with useless MFA sites.

Using the ‘Report a Spam Result’ page from Google doesn’t do squat, I can tell you that. Maybe I should set aside an hour or two to click-spam the bastard.

Anyone else any bright ideas?

On occasion I try and do some special stuff. For instance I do usability tests on websites. Or you can take a look at some of the famous interviews I've done.

  • Stefson in a nutshell (long)

Stefson.com has grown out of my previous site www.mmopiglet.com (which no longer exists), that was mainly about my time in mmo games. Ever since I stopped playing mmo’s, due to personal reasons (read: time), I missed blogging so much, that the decision to start over from scratch on a new domain was easily made. So here we are.

I blog mostly about web2.0, technology, book reviews, Wordpress themes and plugins, tools for web savvys, usability, websites, gaming.
