I really love the white/gray/blue colours.
The headlines are in a bigger font for easy scanning of the page, which is awesome. This makes it very appealing to the site visitors.
You could say that the big logo in the center of the page and the ’slogan’ if I can call it that take up a lot of space, but I guess this is part of the branding process of the website.
The blog content is displayed by whowing only a small selection of the text. Personally, I’m not a fan of this. Yes your blog looks a lot more ‘organised’, but you are kinda forcing your visitors to click on a link to go deeper and read the full story.
Overall a really great job and an excellent design!
Second is Ungarbage.com.
This is definately not your typical design. It’s a personal page/portfolio and therefor a bit more unconventional. But nevertheless it stand out of the crowd.
Why does it do that?
One, because of the trendy colours. A funky blue/white background pattern, mixed with some pink elements, and you’re well on your way to Austin Powersville. Next, the big logo/image on the top left side that supports the name and URL of the site.
Two things I would change.
First, I’d center the design, and second, I would change the [+] symbols you need to use in order to navigate to regular links.
Last, I want to shout out a big ‘Whoa cool!’ to Thumbalizr.com.
An excellent way to take screenshots of your browserwindow or an entire website without having to use a piece of software.
